Product Overview
Designed for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Contemporary DC DN is a fast prime that suits portraits, landscapes and everyday shooting. Its 45mm full-frame equivalent focal length stays versatile. Two aspherical and high-refractive elements correct distortion and hold sharpness across the frame.
Sigma markets it as a compact, lightweight pick for creators. A rubber-sealed mount adds durability. The bundle includes a basic accessory kit and a 4-year USA manufacturer warranty.

Design and Build Quality
Light yet durable, the lens carries easily through long sessions. Its rubber-sealed mount guards against dust and moisture for steadier reliability. Build quality feels solid for the class, though Sigma does not list the exact materials.
Compact size is the real draw. On a Sony APS-C mirrorless body, it balances well without adding bulk. The lens handles both stills and video, keeping portability without giving up optical performance.
Performance in Everyday Use
That f/1.4 aperture leads the way. It performs well in low light and throws a shallow depth of field for smooth bokeh. Portraits and street work benefit, where subject separation counts. The optical design, aspherical elements included, keeps edge-to-edge clarity with minimal distortion.
A stepping motor drives fast, near-silent autofocus for both stills and video. It locks onto subjects quickly and quietly, so images stay sharp without distracting noise. Sigma does not quantify exact focus speed or noise, so real-world results may vary.
Who Should Buy It
- Those who need a weather-sealed lens or a zoom lens for versatility.
- Bundle accessories are basic and may not be essential No weather sealing beyond the mount Autofocus speed and noise not quantified Not a zoom lens, so framing flexibility is limited
