Product Overview
hameso positions this fixture as a porch, garage or side door light meant to run itself: a built in photocell sensor detects falling light levels at dusk and turns the lamp on automatically, then switches it off again at dawn, without a separate timer, smart switch or manual flip required.
The frame is a heavy duty metal build finished in oil rubbed bronze, paired with textured glass panels that hameso states are hand blown, aimed at diffusing the bulb's light into a softer glow rather than exposing a bare bulb.
Score Breakdown
This verdict is based on the manufacturer's stated specifications, the current Amazon listing and its product images, the confirmed materials and design, real buyer ratings, and our research into the product category. Scores are consistent editorial judgments, not laboratory measurements, and we did not receive a paid sample.
Key Features
Turns the light on automatically as it gets dark and off again at daybreak.
Anti rust construction rated against water ingress.
5mm glass panels diffuse the bulb's light softly.
Universal backplate aimed at a single person DIY install.
Accepts LED, Edison style or smart bulbs up to 60W.
Matches Craftsman, Traditional, Rustic and Farmhouse exteriors.
Design and Build Quality
The fixture measures 13 inches tall by 6.3 inches long by 5.7 inches wide, finished in an oil rubbed bronze color over an anti rust metal frame. hameso states the glass panels are 5mm thick and hand blown with a textured ripple finish, intended to resist impact better than standard glass and to spread light evenly rather than casting a single harsh beam.
hameso rates the fixture IP65 for sealing against water ingress, which the listing frames as protection through rain, heat and coastal salt air. A 2 year warranty is listed with the product.
Performance in Everyday Use
The dusk to dawn function runs on a built in photocell sensor rather than a plug in timer or app, so the fixture is meant to turn on automatically as ambient light fades and turn off again once it is light outside, including through daylight saving changes since it reacts to actual light levels rather than a fixed clock.
Installation is designed around a pre assembled, pre wired unit with a universal backplate that hameso says is sized to cover existing junction boxes, aimed at a single person completing the wiring to standard 120V household wiring without hiring an electrician. The open bottom design is meant to make future bulb swaps straightforward. The socket is a standard E26 base rated for LED, Edison style or smart bulbs up to 60W, and the bulb itself is not included.

- Coastal or all season climates needing a sealed fixture
- Replacing an old fixture using a standard junction box
- Anyone wanting a fixture that ships with a bulb already installed
